A Canadian coalition is sending another container of aid to Cuba as the island faces severe fuel and food shortages. The Canadian Network on Cuba says the shipment will include medical supplies, canned food, generators and mattresses. Ottawa is now advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel as rolling blackouts worsen and airlines suspend services. Advocates say families in Cuba are struggling daily just to find food and keep the lights on.
RCMP have identified the Tumbler Ridge school shooter as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rutzelar. Police say nine people were killed, including the suspect. Van Rutzelar had a history of mental health-related police calls and had dropped out of the school years before. Investigators believe the shooter acted alone. A long gun and a modified handgun were recovered, and the motive is still under investigation.

Team Canada opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Czechia, Macklin Selabrini, Mark Stone, Bo Horvat, Nathan McKinney, and Nick Suzuki scored. Jordan Binnington made 26 saves for the shutout. Jose Berrios says he made a bad decision leaving the Blue Jays at the end of last year. He stepped away during the playoff run to rehab at home and be with his family and now says he wishes he'd stayed with the team. He knows he'll have to earn a spot in the rotation this spring.
