It's Friday, July 10th. Good morning. Welcome to the weekend. It's 19 in Newmarket Aurora. Gas up five cents to $1.69. I'm Stacey Englehart. It's being called price fixing, but we'll call it what it is, stealing from consumers. Courts said to decide whether a multi-million dollar proposed settlement will go ahead with beef price fixing. Lawyers behind the class action group say a group of companies accused of conspiring to fix the price of beef have agreed to pay about $8 million. The suit is similar to the one settled in 2024, linked to price fixing of bread. By the way, that started in 2001. Court documents state the defendants colluded to reduce volumes and control the market. Now, according to stats, beef prices have risen 65% since 2021. And for some reason, despite the alleged price fixing being discovered, they have not decreased. By the way, even if this goes through, companies will not admit they've done anything wrong. Air Canada said a flight arriving from L.A. left the runway at Montreal's Trudeau Airport yesterday. The airline said no injuries were reported, but the incident prompted the closure of the north runway to ensure the safe evacuation of passengers. It warned of possible delays because of the incident and asking you to check your flight schedule before traveling to the airport. The Transportation Safety Board has sent a team of investigators. Hot Country Sports, CFL yesterday, Ottawa lost to Edmonton 40-17. Tonight, the Argos are in Winnipeg at 8.30. World Cup soccer quarterfinals, France blank Morocco 2-0. Getting underway at 3 this afternoon, Spain plays Belgium. Blue Jays were off last night. They start up a weekend Rd. series tonight in San Diego 9-40. In the WNBA, Toronto plays Dallas in Montreal at 7.30. And Kawhi Leonard's trade to the Raptors is on hold because of an NBA investigation into the Clippers. The league is looking into whether they circumvented salary cap rules. Hot country weather, sunshine today, a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm. Otherwise a hot humidex feeling 34. It clears tonight, falls to 16 overnight. Tomorrow sunshine, a high feeling 30 with a humidex. And the same thing on Sunday. Right now it's 19 in Newmarket Aurora. I'm Stacey Engelhart.
