A popular West End Toronto bar that's been in business for over 20 years has lost its liquor license after it was caught buying stolen alcohol from an encampment gang. In a ruling published by the Ontario License Appeal Tribunal on July 16th, An adjudicator upheld a notice of proposal to revoke Southside Johnny's Bar and Grill's liquor license issued by the AGCO in December of last year. The AGCO's order was the culmination of an investigation into the conduct of the Etobicoke Watering Hole, which alleged the owner and manager had been repeatedly purchasing stolen liquor from members of a nearby encampment and selling it to their customers. First Nations leaders are calling for a public inquiry into the provincial response to the wildfires blazing through kilometers of forest, saying the Ontario government left communities to fend for themselves without timely evacuation support. Aerial photographs have shown the devastation in one Northern Ontario First Nation as a wildfire tore through the region last week. Premier Doug Ford says his government did everything it could to respond to the wildfires. Ford has told wildfire evacuees not to return to their homes, and on Wednesday, OPP said anyone found in areas under closure face hundreds of dollars in fines and possible demerit points.
