It's Monday, March 9th. Good morning. Welcome back from the weekend. It's 8 degrees in Newmarket, Aurora. Dollar 73.79 cents US. Gas up 8 cents from Friday to $1.54. I'm Stacey Englehart. All the time change might have you feeling a bit tired this morning. Be careful if you're driving as the spring thaw may have had you cleaning water out of your basement. Record-breaking temperatures this weekend also caused some problems on the province's roads. Now one of the warmest places was St. Catharines. They had over 20.3 degrees. One of the wettest places was Wyarton with over 40 millimeters. Environment Canada said sections of Bruce Road 7 were apparently washed out and dense fog led to numerous collisions. 23 people back on dry land. They were rescued by an OPP helicopter when they went on a chunk of ice that floated about 2 kilometers from shore north of Owen Sound over the weekend as police in Hamilton are warning of unsafe ice conditions. Two youths apparently fell in the city's harbor and then four more jumped in to save them. Police were called Saturday to the Pier 7 boardwalk. Well, surging oil prices from the war in Iran have sent overseas markets tumbling this morning in trading. Crude prices have spiked to the highest level in 14 years. Oil was trading over $102 a barrel as the war hinders crude exports from the Persian Gulf. Canadians arriving home from the Middle East over the weekend expressed frustration with the war and the evacuations. Federal government, meanwhile, block-booked hundreds of seats for ongoing flights, as the Prime Minister is proposing debating the turmoil in the Middle East tonight in the House of Commons. Hot Country Sports, NBA last night, Raptors beat Dallas 122-92. They're in Houston tomorrow at 8. PWHL, Toronto lost to Minnesota 3-2 in overtime. Leafs now riding A7 game losing streak or in Montreal tomorrow at 7. Major League Soccer, Toronto FC blank, Cincinnati won nothing. Baseball yesterday, the Blue Jays played split squad games against Baltimore and Detroit. They won both games. And at the World Baseball Classic, Canada lost to Panama 4-3 and plays Puerto Rico tomorrow. Hot country weather, sunny, windy 14 this afternoon. Tonight clear zero. Tomorrow morning foggy, then showers are drizzle and a high of 12. Right now it's 8 in Newmarket, Aurora. I'm Stacey Englehart.
