More and more Canadian children appear to be living in poverty, with about 1.4 million affected. Campaign 2000 said roughly 30,000 children fell below the poverty line in 2023, marking the third consecutive annual increase of the child poverty rate. The report found single-parent families face the worst hardships. Nearly half are living in poverty. Advocates say the findings highlight the need for stronger government support to help families afford basic necessities. A barn fire in Stouffville was reportedly still smoldering. According to YorkRegion.com, it happened early yesterday morning on Warden south of Bloomington. Two ponies died in the blaze, but 30 horses were rescued.
