More and more Canadian children appear to be living in poverty, with about 1.4 million affected. Campaign 2000 said roughly 30,000 children fell below the poverty line in 2023, marking the third consecutive annual increase of the child poverty rate. The report found single-parent families face the worst hardships. Nearly half are living in poverty. Advocates say the findings highlight the need for stronger government support to help families afford basic necessities. A barn fire in Stouffville was reportedly still smoldering. According to YorkRegion.com, it happened early yesterday morning on Warden south of Bloomington. Two ponies died in the blaze, but 30 horses were rescued. The fire department will continue to monitor the site. A former Toronto city councillor and member of the Ontario Legislature has passed away. Giorgio Mammoliti served as an NDP member of the provincial parliament from 1990 to 95. and served on Toronto City Council from 2000 to 2018. He was 64.
