Good morning. It's minus 14 degrees in Newmarket Aurora. The dollar is trading at 73.77 cents U.S. Gasoline at 129.99 this morning. I'm Daniel Coulombe. The day Oshawa auto workers have dreaded for months has arrived as GM Canada will cut a shift at the city's plant costing over 1000 workers their jobs. Up to 1,200 workers are expected to complete their final shift tomorrow as the company scales back its Canadian in operations. Jeff Gray, Uni 4 Local 222 president says they did everything they could in making arguments to General Motors. GM is cutting the plant's midnight shift, which is one of three shifts. High seniority members will be bumped to the remaining shifts. Lower seniority members across all three shifts will lose their jobs. A North York school was evacuated yesterday as a result of a possible ventilation issue. Toronto Police and Toronto Fire were initially called to Shepherd Public School, which also houses Afrocentric Alternative, located on Shepherd Avenue West for a reported gas leak. The call came just after 2 P.m. No reports of injuries. The cause and origin of the issue are not immediately known. Hot country sports, busy schedule tonight in the NHL with 15 games on tap. Maple Leafs start a six-game road trip at Seattle. In women's hockey last night, Toronto Scepters lost 3-0 at Montreal. The game is in Seattle Friday.
