It's Tuesday, January 20th. Good chilly morning, minus 14, feels minus 23 in Newmarket Aurora. Gas a buck 28. I'm Stacey Englehart. We're not under any direct weather alerts, but snow squall warnings have been issued for just around us. Areas towards Innisville, New Tecumseh, into Barry, even towards Oxbridge, Beaverton, North Durham. Expect lots of snow and slippery Rd. conditions. We'll keep you posted throughout the morning. A York Region man has been charged with stalking, police appealing to witnesses after the man allegedly entered a sports facility and called out to a victim he did not know. According to investigators, the male had apparently been attending the victim's swim practices over several months. Prime Minister Carney goes to work today in Switzerland at the World Economic Forum. He's sent to give a speech and take part in various meetings. He'll also meet with the French president. Premier Ford, meanwhile, said Carney's deal with China on electric vehicles has hurt Ontarians and he's not spoken with them since. Ford said he was disappointed that he did not know about it in advance. Carney said he struck a deal with China in exchange for dropping tariffs on Canadian canola and some seafood. Inflation is up higher than expected. According to StatsCan, it rose to 2.4 percent in December. A break in last year's tax holiday was to blame, along with a surge in transportation costs. And a report on consumer spending and business growth is exactly as we'd expected. Consumers say their financial health has deteriorated and businesses reported weak sales growth over the past year. A pair of reports published by the Bank of Canada offered a look at how companies and households saw their economy in the fourth quarter of 2017. Hot country sports, not a great night for Canadian teams. They all lost. The Leafs were doubled by Minnesota 6-3. Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver all losers. Leafs host Detroit tomorrow at 7.
