Toronto police say two people were taken to hospital after a two vehicle collision in a construction area in Etobicoke early this morning, an incident that's now under investigation by the Ministry of Labor. Officers were called to the scene around 319 this morning near Dixon Road and Islington Avenue, where a crash involving a truck working on a construction zone left debris scattered across the roadway. Police say one of the vehicles was connected to the active work site, prompting the incident to be classified as an industrial accident. A man in his 40s was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second driver was also taken hospital with minor injuries. The investigation has been turned over to the Ministry of Labor, which will determine what led to the crash. Police say no information on potential charges is available at this stage. Provincial police say 7 suspects are facing a combined 25 charges in an investigation into fraudulent driver examinations in the GTA. Police say the investigation was launched by the Serious Fraud Office in September of 2024 into suspected irregularities in a G-class license examination process in Ontario. They allege bribes were facilitated in exchange for favorable consideration of specific applicants testing. The suspects were released from custody and are expected to appear before court tomorrow. The law retroactively applies to any migrant who entered Canada irregularly after June 2020, making them ineligible to apply for asylum. In recent weeks, the federal government has sent out an estimated 30,000 letters to claimants informing them they are ineligible for a refugee hearing. Gari Srinivasan of the Canadian Council of Refugees says the letters are sending people into a panic and in a state of uncertainty immediately after arrival.
