The Ontario government is considering stricter rules on cell phones and social media in schools. Education Minister Paul Calandra said a full ban is being reviewed, adding the province is also looking at age limit for social media sites. Officials say they're working with Ottawa on establishing possible national rules. Over-the-counter hearing aids could soon be available at Ontario retailers. Ministry of Health launched a 30-day consultation period, allowing the sale and use of certain devices without a prescription. By the way, Ontario law currently bans selling hearing aids unless it's prescribed by a doctor or audiologist, and that will set you back upwards of $8,000 for a pair. The new Defense Investment Agency is already getting an influx of cash and responsibilities. As part of the Liberal government's spring economic update, new funding is being tapped to give the six-month-old office increased authority, independence, and will also be put under the oversight of a new minister. And despite what's being considered an affordability crisis by many Canadians, a Bank of Canada is widely expected to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 2.25% when it announces its latest decision later this morning.
