An OPP constable was killed yesterday in the line of duty in Northern Ontario. OPP say they were conducting an investigation near the town of Hurst at about 1230 in the afternoon when Constable Taron Bally was seriously injured and later died. He'd been with the service for 2 1/2 years. A massive barn fire early yesterday morning closed Vaughan Roads. According to YorkRegion.com, emergency crews called at about 1.30 in the morning to a blaze near Kirby and Weston. It appears an abandoned barn caught fire. No other details were known. Federal government will introduce legislation today addressing social media and AI chatbot safety. The Digital Safety Act is expected to be introduced at a news conference at 5. The bill will include a ban on social media for kids under 16. The Bank of Canada is set to make an interest rate announcement this morning after a turbulent period of economic data.
