About Steer Friends
Steer Friends is a registered charity based in Stouffville, Ontario, providing daytime support and programming for adults with physical and developmental disabilities who require complex care.
When individuals age out of the school system, many families are left without appropriate options for continued care, structure, and social connection. Steer Friends was created to help fill that gap by offering a safe, welcoming environment where adults with complex needs can spend their days engaged, supported, and included.
Steer Friends offers meaningful programming that focuses on connection, engagement, and well-being. This includes music-based activities, sensory exploration, creative expression, community outings, and individuals 1:1 support. The organization is equipped to support individuals with high and complex care needs, including mobility support, personal care, medication administration, and feeding supports.
At its core, Steer Friends is about community. The program provides families with peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are in a safe and supportive environment, while giving members a place to belong, building relationships, and participate fully in daily life.
